VITA Volunteering 2

I was late to the VITA site and when I arrived they didn't have a laptop for me to use individually so I observed a 3L volunteer reviewing returns for completeness and errors. I met a rather industrious 30-something, single woman. She works 1 FT, 1 PT, and 1 contract (i.e. as needed) jobs but still doesn't make more than $40K. She owns no property, has no spouse, and no kids. End of it all, she owed almost $700. And that is just rotten! In moments like that I am reminded that there is something *very* wrong with the tax code. And I agree that it really does need reformation.
