Day 45: Single tasking

Since law school started,  I have been retraining myself to do one thing at a time. Anyone who knows me and my attention span also knows how hard that has been. Tonight at work with 2 PCs, 5 apps, and 6 tabs open I am reminded that I am a multi-tasker! It keeps me interested. It keeps me awake. It keeps me engaged, strange though it seems. Lawyers conversely are single tasking demons with mesmerizing tunnel vision and securely affixed blinders on to anything other than the matter at hand. I was just thinking how dull and secretly considering myself and my ADD long suffering IT brethren superior to the lawyers of the world. Then I recalled a Civil Law Property professor I met not long ago, who doesn't believe in multitasking and freaked out when I told him I aspired to write a paper in a month. Poor fretful fellow, I thought. Then I read his CV and see that in his lifetime he has taught in America, Germany, Brazil, and Turkey; speaks English, German, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese, and Italian; is Barred in New York and the US Supreme Court; and in his spare time, is a concert violinist. Maybe I should look into this single tasking business. =)
